My story begins with my grandfather, a proud WWII veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He lost his leg at the Battle of the Bulge, but never lost his determination. Growing up, I watched him carry himself with dignity despite the challenges that came with age and declining health. What I didn’t know then — and what could have made a world of difference for him — was that the Aid & Attendance benefit had existed for decades. It could have helped cover his care, ease the financial burden, and honor the sacrifices he made.By the time I learned about this benefit, I tried to help him apply. The process was overwhelming: endless paperwork, confusing requirements, and months of waiting. It became painfully clear that countless veterans and families were quietly missing out on life-changing support simply because the system was too difficult to navigate.
That experience planted the seed for what would become Veteran Caregivers of America. With a background in technology and healthcare, I partnered with a VA-accredited agent and built a team dedicated to making this process easier, faster, and more accessible for veterans and their loved ones. Today, our work is driven by the same thought I had when I watched my grandfather struggle: no veteran should be left behind because of paperwork.
